Washington, D.C. – Today, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) and EDF Action are announcing a new $500,000 radio ad campaign against Pat Toomey in the Pennsylvania Senate race. The ad campaign builds on the over $4.5 million LCV, LCV Victory Fund, and the New American Jobs Fund have invested in the Pennsylvania Senate race so far this cycle. EDF Action has also spent more than $1.6 million in the race, including an additional $200,000 in mail this month.

The radio ad campaign will begin today and run through Election Day in the Philadelphia area. You can listen to the ad, “Billionaires” here, with script and backup here.

The script for the ad reads:

OPERATOR: Pennsylvania ad complaint hotline, can I help you?

CALLER: Uh, I’m calling about all these attacks on Katie McGinty.

OPERATOR: Yes, yes, you’re not the first to call about those…

CALLER: Are they true?

OPERATOR: Well, independent fact checkers have called them “misleading” and “distorted” and said they “twist the facts.”

CALLER: Who’s paying for the nasty ads, anyway?

OPERATOR: As you might suspect, those big oil billionaires – the Koch Brothers. Groups they’ve funded have spent almost $9 million dollars attacking Katie McGinty.

CALLER: Did you say, $9 million dollars?

OPERATOR: Yes. They care about Pat Toomey because Toomey sides with big oil polluters in the Senate.

CALLER: Like, how?

OPERATOR: Toomey voted to protect the big oil polluters’ $24 billion in special tax giveaways.

CALLER: And now they’re trying to buy his Senate seat for him, that’s just wrong.

OPERATOR: Ah, that’s for you to decide ma’am.

CALLER: Ok, thanks.

OPERATOR: Have a nice day.
