EDF Action Statement on the Candidacy of Ben Jealous for Governor of Maryland

“I want to offer my congratulations to Ben Jealous on his candidacy for Governor of Maryland. Ben, who served on EDF’s Board of Trustees from 2014 to 2017, has shown time and again that protecting the environment is a high priority for him. He founded one of the first high school chapters of the Student Environmental Action Coalition, helped launch PIRG’s neighborhood Green Corps program in 1994, and launched the NAACP national climate justice program in 2008. He also cofounded the Democracy Initiative, a collaboration of environmentalists and civil rights organizations to fight voter suppression in 2012.0
