EDF Action has launched a high five-figure ad buy across seven states to hold accountable representatives who are stymying action on deadly climate change and celebrate other representatives who are bringing forward solutions.

One set of ads targets Representatives Coffman  (R-CO-6), Tenney  (R- NY 22), Valadao  (R-CA-21), Pearce  (R-NM-2), and Cuellar (D-TX-28), who voted in support of a resolution claiming that any tax on carbon pollution is detrimental to the economy. The resolution, though non-binding, continues a head-in-the-sand approach to climate change taken by many conservative members and stalls climate action rather than offer much needed solutions.

Representatives Curbelo  (R-FL 26), Fitzpatrick  (R-PA-8) and Rooney  (R-FL-17) who recently introduced the MARKET CHOICE Act, are receiving different ads that laud their efforts to tackle climate change. The Act represents a new bipartisan effort to take seriously the effects of climate change and implement marked-based solutions that would benefit municipalities, low-income communities, and a warming world.

“These ads make clear that members can no longer get away with reductive action on climate change. Unfortunately, a large coalition of members continues to support counterproductive resolutions that hamper Congress’s ability to discuss a warming world and the solutions needed to combat deadly climate change. These members are failing to protect their constituents.

“It is heartening to see Representatives Curbelo, Fitzpatrick and Rooney offer intelligent solutions. More of that is needed, and EDF Action applauds any member that brings forward intelligent, proactive solutions to such an important issue.”
