(Washington, D.C. – November 9, 2022) EDF Action congratulates U.S. Representative Elissa Slotkin (MI-07) for winning reelection.

“Voters sent a strong message by reelecting Elissa Slotkin to Congress,” said EDF Action President David Kieve. “Slotkin’s record in Congress speaks for itself: working to lower energy costs for families, create good-paying clean energy jobs and ensure healthier communities. We were proud to support Elissa Slotkin in her reelection bid and know she’ll continue to fight for Michigan families. We look forward to working with Representative Slotkin to continue making climate progress over the next two years.”

EDF Action Votes invested $500,000 to help reelect Elissa Slotkin.

EDF Action had two on-the-ground organizers in Michigan working to mobilize climate activists for Representative Slotkin’s reelection campaign. This program was based in five states across the country: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and New Hampshire. Over 500 EDF Action members volunteered for candidates in close races by phone banking, letter writing, canvassing and joining virtual and in-person events.

As part of its largest-ever program to engage EDF Action members in critical campaigns, EDF Action also supported Elissa Slotkin by deploying staff to Michigan. These staffers educated EDF Action members about opportunities to volunteer and vote for climate champions while also working with the campaign on behalf of EDF Action PAC to contact and turn out voters.

EDF Action also worked with other environmental groups — Clean Energy for America, the League of Conservation Voters, NRDC Action Fund, National Wildlife Federation Action Fund, the Sierra Club and the Wilderness Society Action Fund — to put together the largest-ever national member mobilization effort in a non-Presidential election cycle.
