(WASHINGTON, DC – November 2, 2022) – EDF Action announced today that Clara Pratte, a member of the Navajo Nation, who is focused on ensuring tribal lands get the energy infrastructure needed to tackle the climate crisis, has joined the EDF Action Board of Directors.

“I am honored to join EDF Action’s board to contribute to the important work EDF Action is doing to address the climate crisis and protect our environment. It is imperative that we continue addressing these issues with common sense and science backed solutions for the benefit of all people everywhere. I am especially excited and honored to bring the issues facing our Indigenous communities to the table in these spaces,” said Clara Pratte.

“I am thrilled to have Clara Pratte join our board,” said EDF Action President David Kieve. “Clara has dedicated her career toward building political power for tribal communities. Her perspective will help EDF Action win on climate and push for essential infrastructure investments that every community will need to thrive as we transition to an economy that runs on clean energy.”

Clara Pratte is a Co-Founder and Partner of Navajo Power, a public-benefit corporation that develops utility-scale energy projects and seeks to develop more than $3 billion of clean energy infrastructure by 2030 on Tribal lands. In 2020, Clara was recognized for this groundbreaking work by being awarded the Pritzker Emerging Environmental Genius Award. Pratte is also the Founder and CEO of Strongbow Strategies, a professional services firm dedicated to tribal and government clients. She has also served as Tribal Engagement Director for the Biden for President Campaign and on the Biden-Harris transition, as Chief of Staff to the President of the Navajo Nation, as Executive Director of the Navajo Nation’s Washington DC office, as the National Director of the Office of Native American Affairs of the U.S. Small Business Administration and with the U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration Foreign and Commercial Service.

Pratte was born and raised in a rural Navajo community in Lupton, AZ without running water or electricity. She has a master’s in Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona.
