EDF Action Political Science Symposium - Session 1 (May 2021)

Identifying, understanding and combating misinformation & disinformation

Recorded Tuesday, May 11, 2021

2020 was a watershed year for misinformation. We saw targeted and impactful disinformation campaigns about COVID-19, the movement for Black lives and the integrity of our elections, which culminated in climatic real-world consequences at the Capitol on January 6. The climate movement is not immune. With misleading information about “frozen windmills” and exaggerated claims about President Biden’s climate initiatives impacting our work, it’s clear that we must address the problem of misinformation.

Hear from a panel of experts as they share analysis and findings from a brand-new study commissioned by EDF Action on misinformation and disinformation around climate issues and the impacts these findings have on progress in fighting climate change.
