WASHINGTON, DC, August 5, 2026 – EDF Action congratulates Michigan State Sen. Sean McCann on winning the Democratic primary for Michigan’s 4th congressional district representing southwest Michigan including Kalamazoo, where he served as a City Counselor.
“State Sen. Sean McCann is focused on lowering costs for hardworking people in southwest Michigan and understands that policies pushed by Donald Trump and rubber stamped by Bill Huizenga are costing his neighbors every day,” said David Kieve, president of EDF Action. “Trump administration policies hellbent on keeping dirty, expensive and unreliable coal plants in southwest Michigan open, for no good reason, aren’t just senseless, they’re indefensible.
