New Polling Shows Strong Opposition to Clean Energy Cuts in Trump Tax and Budget Bill

Survey of 800 respondents finds broad concern about bill that eliminates clean energy incentives while encouraging more coal, oil and gas

WASHINGTON, July 3, 2025 – A new poll commissioned by EDF Action and conducted by Global Strategy Group shows that once Americans learn of the harms to the clean energy provisions in the Republican budget bill, they strongly object.

“New polling from EDF Action clearly demonstrates that the more American voters know what’s inside President Trump’s big, ugly mess of a tax bill, the less they like it – by a lot,” said David Kieve, president of EDF Action. “This holds true for the shameful effort to cut clean energy production that will simply be passed along to consumers in the form of higher electric bills. It’s also the case for measures aiming to give away taxpayer dollars to oil and gas companies that are polluting the air and the climate with methane waste. American voters clearly care about these issues and every Member of Congress had a choice to make. Giving President Trump their votes for this bill will come with a high political price.”
