(Washington, D.C. – November 4, 2020) EDF Action congratulates U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI-Sen) on winning re-election.

“Voters sent a strong message by re-electing Gary Peters to the U.S. Senate,” said EDF Action President Joe Bonfiglio. “Time and again, Gary Peters has fought for Michiganders and their environment – protecting their communities from toxic chemicals, safeguarding the Great Lakes and growing the clean energy economy. We are proud to support Gary Peters in his re-election bid and we know he’ll continue to find bipartisan solutions that benefit Michigan.”

EDF Action Votes ran a television ad campaign praising Gary Peters for protecting residents from toxic “forever” chemicals. The ad was part of a collaboration with NRDC Action Votes and LCV Victory Fund, with a combined buy of $1 million.

EDF Action also worked to deploy grassroots activist through the Green Wave program, where the group had an on-the-ground organizer and mobilized EDF Action members for Sen. Peters’ re-election campaign. The Green Wave was a nationwide membership mobilization program done in partnership with the Sierra Club, NRDC Action Fund, National Wildlife Federation Action Fund and League of Conservation Votes where the groups helped to elect and re-elect pro-environment candidates in key battleground districts across the country.
