(Tampa, FL – September 1, 2020) New polling conducted for EDF Action Votes by ALG Research shows a 7-point swing for Joe Biden in the Tampa media market. Polling conducted before the start of a $1.7 million television campaign, had shown President Trump leading in the critical region. More information is available in the polling memo from July 6th, and from the polling memo on August 26th.

“Our new polling shows Donald Trump is losing the critical Tampa Bay area. Our ads put Trump’s climate denial front and center and voters oppose his reckless views,” said EDF Action President Joe Bonfiglio. “The people of Florida are tired of the lack of leadership, and the failure to listen to experts and scientists, on the coronavirus and climate change. Amidst the most active hurricane season on record, the climate crisis is top of mind, and Florida voters are rejecting Trump’s insistence on attacking the critical safeguards that protect our air, water and health. Florida can’t afford another four years of Donald Trump’s attempts to ignore climate change and harm our environment.”

“Florida is the most valuable swing state and the Tampa area is an essential piece of the electoral puzzle. Our polling shows that Trump’s support is declining in the Tampa area, and Trump’s climate change denial is a real vulnerability for him. Tampa area voters have felt the impacts of sea level rise, stronger storms, and issues like Red Tide. It’s no surprise these voters are souring on a President who calls climate change a hoax,” said Kevin Akins, a veteran Florida pollster and Vice President at ALG Research.
