Milwaukee, WI - EDF Action today released a new TV ad detailing Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson’s support from big oil polluters and stubborn denial of climate science. The spot, titled “Cell Phone,” hits Sen. Johnson for opposing moderate limits on carbon pollution and taking large contributions from oil interests.
The new ad follows a TV spot by LCV Victory Fund, which contrasted the broad scientific consensus that pollution is causing our climate to change with Johnson’s outright denial of that basic facts and support from big oil polluters.
“When the Oil Billionaire Koch Brothers call Senator Johnson. What do you think they talk about? How the Koch Brothers’ companies polluted Wisconsin, even Green Bay? Or how they spent millions to support Johnson – as he voted their way ninety percent of the time, and supported special tax breaks for big oil polluters?” says the voiceover in the new spot.
The ad concludes, “Whatever Senator Johnson and the Koch Brothers talk about, it probably isn’t you.”

The new ad will run from Monday, August 8 through Sunday, August 21 in the Milwaukee and Madison media markets, including during the Olympics. The LCV Victory Fund ad ran starting Monday, July 25 through Sunday, August 7. Targeted online and social media ads accompany the TV campaign in the Milwaukee area.
