(Washington, D.C. – December 8, 2014) Environmental Defense Action Fund (EDAF) today praised Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Rob Portman (R-OH) for their ongoing work to pass an energy efficiency bill.

Shaheen and Portman re-introduced legislation last week to improve energy efficiency in America. Parts of the new measure are based on their earlier bill, the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act of 2014. The new measure is also similar to a bill by Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.) and Rep. David McKinley (R-W.Va.) that passed the House in March.

“Senator Shaheen is right that energy efficiency is the cheapest, fastest way to address our country’s energy needs,” said EDAF president Elizabeth Thompson. “Senators Shaheen and Portman have worked tirelessly on energy efficiency. We need more Members of Congress to support their efforts.”
