(Arizona, July 15, 2020) EDF Action launched a mail campaign in support of Arizona State Representatives Daniel Hernandez (Legislative District 2) and Alma Hernandez (Legislative District 3). The $67,500 campaign will include two mail pieces, dropping over the course of the next month in each district, to emphasize the ongoing work these State Representatives have been doing for their communities.

“Daniel Hernandez and Alma Hernandez are champions for their Arizona communities. They have both been lifelong advocates of public health and have been working tirelessly to combat the coronavirus pandemic,” said EDF Action President Joe Bonfiglio. “Both Daniel and Alma have worked hard to protect Arizona’s air and water, safeguarding public health, and standing up for hardworking families. During these unprecedented times, Daniel and Alma are the kind of leaders Arizonans needs back in the State Legislature.”

Daniel Hernandez is a progressive champion in the Arizona legislature. He has successfully fought for the rights of women, workers, and the LGBTQ+ community as well as for pro-democracy legislation. In a time when our healthcare systems are under immense stress due to COVID-19, his record of securing funding for hospitals and advocating for healthcare access is especially significant. He has also worked to protect the health of Arizonans by co-sponsoring legislation to ensure clean air and water as well as reduce carbon emissions.

Alma Hernandez is an active member of her local community and a fierce advocate for public health. In keeping with her lifelong fight to ensure access to healthcare, she has been extremely vocal in Arizona’s need to contain COVID-19. She is also a pro-climate voice in the legislature, having co-sponsored environmental justice and emissions reduction legislation.
