(Detroit, MI- July 29, 2019) Today, EDF Action brought the melting popsicle ads back. The digital ad campaign highlights the issue of climate change in the presidential debates and calls for a 100 percent clean economy. This campaign was first launched at Miami debates in June.

“In the height of summer, people everywhere are experiencing hotter, more intense heat waves,” said Joe Bonfiglio, President of EDF Action. “Climate change is hitting home and voters are demanding that the presidential candidates deliver bold plans to address this challenge. Every plan should set an ambitious goal of transitioning to a 100 percent clean economy, and every debate should have a comprehensive discussion about climate change and its connection our economy and our health. Our ads will remind candidates and moderators that voters are watching the Detroit debates closely to see which candidates will prioritize climate action and offer real solutions.”

The ads use the melting popsicle as a way to draw attention to the serious challenge posed by climate change, and will be targeted to debate attendees. EDF Action is also using Twitters conversation cards to encourage voters to tweet at debate moderators, advocating for questions about climate change and its impacts on our economy and health.
