(Washington, D.C. – November 12, 2022) EDF Action congratulates U.S. Senator Mark Kelly (AZ) for winning reelection.

“Voters sent a strong message by electing Mark Kelly to serve a full term in the U.S. Senate,” said EDF Action President David Kieve. “Kelly’s record over his first two years in office speaks for itself: working across the aisle to invest in water resilience efforts, ensure healthier communities, lower costs for families, and create good-paying, clean energy jobs. We were proud to support Mark Kelly in his reelection bid and know he’ll continue to fight for Arizona families. We look forward to working with Senator Kelly to continue making climate progress over the next six years.”

EDF Action Votes ran a $1.2 million Spanish language campaign in support of Senator Kelly. The ads ran on TV, radio, and premium streaming platforms, focusing on Kelly’s biography and his work across the aisle on water issues and advancing commonsense policies that help families and communities thrive.

EDF Action had three field organizers on the ground in Arizona working to mobilize climate activists for Senator Kelly’s reelection campaign. This program was based in five states across the country: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and New Hampshire. Over 500 EDF Action members volunteered for candidates in close races by phone banking, letter writing, canvassing and joining virtual and in-person events.

As part of its largest-ever program to engage EDF Action members in critical campaigns, EDF Action also supported Mark Kelly by deploying staff to Arizona. These staffers educated EDF Action members about opportunities to volunteer and vote for climate champions while also working with the campaign on behalf of EDF Action PAC to contact and turn out voters.

EDF Action also worked with other environmental groups — Clean Energy for America, the League of Conservation Voters, NRDC Action Fund, National Wildlife Federation Action Fund, the Sierra Club and the Wilderness Society Action Fund — to put together the largest-ever national member mobilization effort in a non-Presidential election cycle.
