Green Team Volunteers: A New Year, A New Congressional Recess

Last week Members of Congress were back in their districts to meet with and hear from constituents. Our Green Team volunteers took advantage of this opportunity to talk to their elected officials and their local office staff about a 100% clean future at town hall meetings, constituent coffees, and in the Representative’s offices.

Some highlights from February recess include:

  • Representative Susie Lee hosted a town hall in Henderson, Nevada. Green Team volunteers attended and asked Representative Lee about her support for a national goal of net-zero carbon pollution, which she strongly agreed with.

  • Representative Elissa Slotkin hosted a “State of the District” event in Lansing, and members of the Michigan Green Team attended! Here, they were able to thank Rep. Slotkin for co-sponsoring the 100% Clean Economy Act. They were also able to ask how we can work together to continue pushing climate action through Congress.

  • Representative Jason Crow hosted a “Crow in Your Corner” event in Highlands Ranch that Green Team volunteers attended, where they could discuss Congressman Crow’s support for the 100% Clean Economy Act and clean energy legislation.
  • Green Team volunteers also stopped by Representatives’ in-district offices to talk to district staff about the importance of climate action.

Green Team is an on-the-ground project of EDF Action and NRDC Action Fund, and we’re excited about the number of EDF Action members who are taking action with the Green Team to urge their elected officials to support a 100% clean future. If you live in a state with a local Green Team you can sign up to participate here.

We need activists all across our country as well, so please sign up to be an EDF Action member at www.edfaction.org/join!
