(Washington, D.C. - October 22, 2020) Tonight is the last presidential debate, and represents yet another opportunity for voters to hear directly from Donald Trump and Joe Biden about the pressing issues facing our country. This includes climate change, which has been announced as a debate topic.

EDF Action President Joe Bonfiglio released the following statement:

“It is unfortunate but also unavoidable that many Americans will tune in tonight expecting a NASCAR-style car crash. Unfortunate, because I believe many will simply miss how far apart Biden and Trump are on the environment, climate change and public health policy. Donald Trump fundamentally doesn’t believe in basic science while Biden has carefully crafted his policy agenda around undisputed facts and expert advice. We can’t be healthy and we can’t prosper if we continue to have a president who holds views that wouldn’t pass 6th grade science. The stakes are extremely high for our country and planet and in this election, the choice is simple. We need to elect a new president who will listen to scientists and public health experts – quite literally, the health and well-being of our families and environment depend on it.”

Debate Resource: EDF Action put together this guide for fact-checking President Trump’s statements about the environment and his administration’s real record putting polluters first. It includes some of his most common false claims with correct information and sources. Click here to view the report.
