Senate Should Vote Down Legislation That Would Gut Health Safeguards

“We oppose the Regulatory Accountability Act. Congress has already passed permanent rollbacks of health protections and is considering drastic budget cuts to public health and environmental programs. Why is this the time to add yet more red tape to the process of protecting the American people? Rather than impeding protections, Congress should be taking steps to ensure that Americans have clean air and water, safe food, and protections from toxic chemicals. We hope and expect the Senate will not advance a bill that would put such protections at risk.”
