Senate Rules Committee Acts on Critical Democracy Reform Bill

(Washington D.C., May 12, 2021) EDF Action President Joe Bonfiglio released the following statement after the U.S. Senate Rules and Administration Committee debated and voted on the For the People Act:

“We applaud the leadership of Chairman Amy Klobuchar and bill sponsor Senator Jeff Merkley in advancing the debate on this critical voting rights protection bill. The For the People Act (S.1), will strengthen our democracy by expanding voting access and modernizing our voting system. These are essential pieces of the puzzle to ensure we have a working democracy — allowing everyone to easily and securely cast a vote and ensure their voice is heard in our political process.”
