(SACRAMENTO – February 23, 2017) The new “Preserve California” legislative package could provide Californians important protections from actions by the federal government that risk endangering the climate and environment. The three bills were rolled out to the California State Senate today by Senate President pro Tem Kevin de León, Senator Henry Stern, Senator Ben Allen, and Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson.

“These bills reinforce California’s strong environmental protections. If the Trump administration won’t protect Californians’ health and future, our state will have to step up and do it.

“The Trump administration might be willing to accept failure in the race to create a clean energy future, but California will not. More than a decade into California’s groundbreaking climate program, carbon pollution is going down and the economy is thriving. This legislation will help California to continue leading the nation and the world. California legislators should be commended for their leadership in protecting Californians and the gains we have made on climate.”
