(Washington, D.C. – September 7, 2018) EDF Action today launched a digital ad campaign supporting Pennsylvania Republican Brian Fitzpatrick, a member of Congress who has been an outspoken defender of clean air, clean water and a healthy climate in his party.
“Brian Fitzpatrick has proven he won’t be pushed around by Washington special interests looking to roll back environmental protections,” said Joe Bonfiglio, President of EDF Action. “Congressman Fitzpatrick has been a real leader in fighting to protect public health and the environment and we are proud to highlight his record in this ad campaign.”
The ads, which will run online starting today, highlight Fitzpatrick’s support for a range of environmental issues.
Fitzpatrick is a leader in fighting climate change, including by supporting a resolution calling on Congress to address climate change and co-sponsoring the MARKET CHOICE Act — an innovative proposal to fund American infrastructure that would also cut carbon pollution.
Fitzpatrick was one of just seven Republicans to vote against legislation that would block the EPA from using scientific data it needs to protect public health. Fitzpatrick opposed an effort to gut the enforcement office that holds big polluters accountable.
Fitzpatrick voted to protect clean air by opposing legislation to delay protections against ozone pollution (smog), tied to increased asthma attacks and other health impacts. Fitzpatrick voted to protect clean water, including being the only Republican in Congress to oppose eliminating certain Clean Water Act safeguards.
EDF Action, the advocacy partner of Environmental Defense Fund, is running ads supporting pro-environment candidates on both sides of the aisle, across the country in competitive districts.
