“Environmental injustice is a serious problem, and we’re glad to see Senator Booker and Congressman Ruiz taking steps to address it. All Americans deserve clean air to breathe, safe water to drink, and to be safe from toxic waste sites.

“American low-income communities, communities of color and indigenous communities are especially vulnerable to air and water pollution, and to the damages caused by climate change. The Environmental Justice Act of 2017 would strengthen legal protections for those communities, and would make sure the federal government works to address environmental injustice through its permitting decisions and other actions. We need strong Congressional leadership to protect public health and the environment, for all of us now and for future generations.”
