FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(HARRISBURG, PA – September 12, 2017) EDF Action today launched a series of ads targeting the Pennsylvania state legislature, urging them not to vote for the current version of the state’s budget — which includes several environmental loopholes for oil and gas companies.

One ad features images of methane pollution, the potent greenhouse gas that Pennsylvania’s oil and gas companies emit in large quantities across the state. If passed in its current form, the budget would prevent the Department of Environmental Protection from adequately enforcing emission standards that can reduce methane and other harmful pollutants.

“The unacceptable environmental loopholes in the current budget essentially give oil and gas companies a free pass to pollute,” said Dan Grossman, EDF Action. “Clean air and clean water aren’t bargaining chips up for debate, they are essential to the health and wellbeing of every Pennsylvania family and Pennsylvania legislators should reject any budget deal that puts families at risk”
