“This bill is a very big step in the wrong direction. It would seriously undermine EPA’s efforts to clean our air, protect public health and reduce the pollution that causes climate change. It would overturn the work EPA has done to establish common-sense limits on carbon pollution from power plants. Right now, there are no national limits on how much pollution power plants can emit. This bill would continue that unacceptable status quo.

“Rep. Ed Whitfield and the other House members who voted for this bill should stop blocking EPA’s efforts to reduce air pollution. They should join those efforts instead, and help move America away from climate change and toward a safer, healthier future.

“And in the meantime, the Senate should reject this misguided and dangerous measure.”
